Insurance Resume Tips

An effective resume gives some sense of who you are (at least as far as your professional life is concerned), and what your future employer can expect you to accomplish for him/her. Here are some important tips for building an insurance resume.

Insurance Resume Template

Contact Information :
  1. Full name
  2. Campus and permanent addresses
  3. Telephone numbers
  4. Email address

Objective : Your insurance resume must include a brief headline that encapsulates your career goal and one or two of your top qualifications. For example "An executive level position in the insurance industry."

Summary of Qualifications : This section is recommended for experienced professionals.

For example "Proven sales ability. Highly organized and efficient. Extremely capable manager and leader. Proficient in all phases of organizing and coordinating projects, meeting deadlines, and meeting budgets."

Skills/Areas Of Expertise :

Talk about what you’ve done that shows how good you are. For example the statement "Effectively managed a diverse population of 30 computer professionals to become a cohesive working team" is effective as compared to the following statement "Consistently exceeded production quotas by 30 to 50 %" is effective. So phrase your sentences effectively.

Education : List most recent degree first.
  1. Name of institution, city and state
  2. Degree, major and year awarded
  3. GPA (optional)

Skills : Use action verbs and keywords pertinent to your job profile to describe your skillset and achievements.

Summarize your strengths and key qualifications within the top half of the first page of the resumeunder sections like "Professional Profile" and the "Areas of Expertise" listing keywords that are pertinent to your career choice. Also include your industry certifications and licenses, such as CA, ICWA and ICFAI.

Experience : List the most recent first.

Emphasise your accomplishments in the experience section of your insurance resume. Describe your basic job responsibilities, followed by a bulleted list of accomplishments. Show quantifiable results of your work.

Activities : Campus and community activities, Memberships in professional organizations.

Personal : Certifications, security clearances, patents, special awards, citizenship.

Buzzwords : It is important to include enough technical terms to let your future employer know that you're familiar with their industry.
