A chemistry resume must present the information quickly, clearly, and in a way that makes your experience relevant to the position in question. That means condensing your information down to its most powerful form.

Objective : A job objective informs the reader about the intent of the resume. Without a job objective, it is difficult to discuss the skills you have that will apply to the prospective job. For example

"To use my knowledge to better the environment and to obtain a position in environmental chemistry in the process."

Qualification Summary : Recommended for experienced professionals. This section should consist of a minimum of three, and preferably no more than ten, "bullet points", each describing an accomplishment in terms of results. For example, instead of "Implemented a trade match system", try "Implemented a trade match system which reduced processing time by over 50%, and resulted in the elimination of overtime expenses for the entire business unit, saving in excess of 10K per month."

Education : List most recent degree first.

Special Skills : Most typically includes computer and language skills. May also include job specific skills of any sort:

Activities : You may want to list your significant student and community activities including organizations, clubs, student government, athletics, and professional affiliations. You may use action verbs to describe your responsibilities and accomplishmentsjust as you did in the Experience section.

Areas of Special Expertise or Profile : This is an optional section that can be included in the chemistry resume. If you decide to go with "Areas of Special Expertise", use bullet points. The Profile can be written in paragraph form (if it's five sentences or less) or in bullet point format.
