2004-present Ashley Furniture Homestore Jacksonville, FL

Director of Visual Merchandising

Designed and Project Managed the development of 3 new Home Stores in the Jacksonville/ Daytona Beach FL area. Managed visual team of up to 9 people (3 per store).

  • Designed on Autocad all new stores for SFTF Llc.’s licensed region of Florida.

  • Managed construction of $1.5-2 million build out of stores from concept to opening day.

  • Worked with Ashley Furniture Industries homestore group to create a store that adhered to their minimum standards.

  • Maintained current Homestores to look fresh and new.

  • Managed budget of $6/sf of accessories for all stores and did all of the purchasing for the stores.

  • Successfully turned accessory inventory 3 times per year averaging approximately 6% of total store sales.

  • Furniture buyer for all stores, managed buying, logistics and space planning of new product into stores.

  • Participated with team of two other people for all of the advertising.

  • Hired, trained and managed design and support staff for all locations.

  • Communicated with in store management on all furniture activities as it impacted them.

  • Trained all store level management on HOMES computer system and usage of internet based Ashley Direct program.

Retail Store Designer

Created with team the Home Store concept. Designed standard elements for all Home Stores. Created “Open to buy” budgets for each store, worked with individual store demographics to develop product mix. Traveled to stores to set up stores.

  • Personally designed over 100 stores.

  • Purchased all initial home accents for 100+ stores.

  • Worked with vendors and stores for opening accounts, shipping on time for store openings, and pricing of merchandise.

  • Spent time with stores at markets helping to create an “Open to buy” and guiding them towards the proper balance of price points for their specific demographic.

  • Designed and detailed all aspects of store for licensee and corporately owned homestores throughout the world.

  • Worked with Architects and contractors to complete build out of stores.

  • Workload consisted of designing 6-14 stores at one time.

  • Trained 6 new designers on general store standards, merchandising, and communication with all departments involved in development of new homestores.

  • Traveled as head designer to all locations designed by me, traveled as support designer for other designer’s stores.

  • Developed new prototype stores and design elements.

  • Decorated and attended furniture markets to assist new homestores with accessory shopping.
