Develop CNC programming codes for outside vendors. Develop vendor database. Attend conferences and advanced training seminars for both software and medical device manufacturer interests.

Position: Engineer I / Senior Designer
Position involved new product and tooling design. Company deals with PMD (Polarization Mode Dispersion) and related difficulties regarding 10G and 40G optical signal transmissions. Duties include all design and related criteria of tooling for pilot and production lines for all facets of the PMD 10 and 40 gig units. Yafo Networks is the world leader in PMD issues and related optical transmission concerns.
• Full mechanical design and implementation thereof for the PMD Emulator ECHO (Enhanced Coherent Higher-Order) PMD source utilizing servo drive systems, power supplies, power conditioners, amplifiers, and stepper motors.
• Optics and aperture design using wave plates, wave-guides as well as LinBo (Lithium Niobate) YVO (Yttrium Vanadium) crystals as well as all mechanical parts, assemblies and packaging thereof.
• Modification of a Camelot robotic pick and place machine which utilized a custom designed vacuum plate to hold the LCD crystals in place for application of an optical epoxy for an LCD to LCD bonding process.
• Full mechanical design for the mechanical direct attach (DA) fixtures, which connect 3mm collimators to 11mm X 8mm LCD crystals with a 100 degree Celsius optical epoxy bond. Future revisions modified the DA fixtures to full automation thereby removing human error in the process.
• Lead designer in the DGD (Differential Group Delay) controller and design of RP (rapid prototype) parts for mold design, prototype and production tooling, utilizing ABS, Distat and other related polycarbonates.
• Addressed all electromechanical packaging and EMI shielding concerns including grounding, EMI coatings and sealing technologies.
• Oversee and approve all designs related to the pilot and production lines as well as internal and external lab test tooling including tooling and fixture design for all test protocols.
• Assist in the writing of the software to run all units using Microsoft Visual Basic and Labview. Operated ANSYS Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software to solve nonlinear structural, thermal, electromagnetic and fluid flow metaphysics problems.

• Solid model rough design to full production. Design rapid prototype parts for both prototype and production molds.
