RESULTS-PROVEN Mechanical ENGINEER

Currently Specializing in Machine & Enclosure Design

  •      Experienced in both machine shop and mechanical design processes. With over 12 years experience in the industrial machining industry and 8 years experience in machine, auto, and sheet metal part design; I am a more efficient designer than most focusing only in engineering.

  •     Known to streamline and guide new processes.  I believe there is more to engineering than just design. You can expect me to find new and innovative ways to make the manufacturing process more efficient in both time and material costs.

  •      Automation is the key. One of my greatest accomplishments of 2009 was the design and implementation of software that I developed to automate the 3D design process of electrical enclosures.

Experience

Motor Controls Inc. / Steeline Enclosures | Dallas, TX

Electrical enclosure design and manufacturing.

Mechanical Engineer / Visual Basic Programmer, 07/07 to 01/09

Hired to design large electrical enclosures per customer request while maintaining NEMA and IP specifications. While there I became head of a large project to design and implement an automated enclosure wizard. The project was a major success, as it reduced design time down from 3 hours to 5 minutes for each enclosure package.

Key Achievements:

  • Worked personally with designs for large corporations such as ABB, Allen Bradley, Halliburton, ITT Flowtronex, Kuhlman, NTTA, and Siemens.
  • Ensured a quality design that meets each customer’s unique needs.
  • Analyzed costs of individual parts, assemblies, and materials to reduce production costs.
  • Streamlined manufacturing processes by discussing and tracking hundreds of project builds.
  • Handled large accounts with mass quantity builds and revenues up to $4M.
  • Automated 3D design process to reduce engineering time per project.
  • Programmed in visual basic, AutoDesk API, and excel macros to reduce design and data logging time.

Calypso Water Jet Systems Inc. | Farmers Branch, TX

Water Jet CNC machine design and manufacturer.

Mechanical Engineer, 06/06 to 07/07

At Calypso, I realized many important goals to help boost company production and fine tune their product. While there I was able to be a liaison between engineering and the machine shop insuring a steady work flow for the design and manufacturing processes.

Key Achievements:

  • Research and developed new and innovative ways to improve the company’s product.
  • Analyzed costs of individualized parts and materials to reduce production costs.

  • Liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing departments.

  • Leader of special projects for redesign of existing parts and assemblies.

Goza Racing Products | Garland, TX

Performance auto racing parts manufacturer.

CNC Machinist/Precision Machining, 04/04 to 07/06

As an avid machinist, I was able to program, setup, and run several CNC machines at one time. I was the only person at the time of my employment at Goza that was bale to setup, program, and run the company’s Romi E280 multi axis two spindle machining center.

Key Achievements:

  • Program and setup multi axis machining centers.
  • Maintenance and maintained CNC machinery per machinery maintenance schedules.

  • Advanced measuring devices (CMM Probes, micrometers, depth gauges, bore gauges).

  • Completed some CAD designs to help with design over flow.

Flextronics Enclosures | Garland, TX

Electrical enclosure design and manufacturing.

Quality Inspector, 06/01 to 05/02

As a team member for Flextronics Enclosures, I was introduced in to the world of six sigma. My primary goal was to inspect and audit completed electrical enclosures. As a key member on the six sigma team I was able to create tests, measure reliability, and revise processes to ensure a quality product.

Key Achievements:

  • Key member on Six Sigma team.
  • Preformed quality audits on products and manufacturing processes.

  • Advanced measuring devices (CMM probes, calipers, thread gauges, powder coat thickness gauges).

  • Manager of receiving inspection department.

Pedco Systems Inc. | Garland, TX

Government and Industrial manufacturing.

Machinist, 06/94 to 01/00

Pedco System was the beginning of my machining career. From the first day I made my first part I instantly knew that whatever I did would involve creating. After my six years of being a machinist for Pedco Systems, I had learned many valuable skills that to this day I consider when designing. By the time I left there was not anything in the shop that I could not do.

Key Achievements:

  • Learned basic CNC programming and error proofing.
  • Learned to set up and operate manual and CNC machinery.

  • Learned to use measuring devices (micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, depth gauges).
