Nov. 2008 New York State Consumer Protection Board - Administrative Assistant

to Present Assist Deputy Executive Director, General Counsel and Agency Counsel Staff with daily administrative duties including typing, filing, copying, telephone and written correspondence. Also, as needed, conduct research projects, prepare quarterly reports, and assist in legal filing for Do Not Call enforcement. I also add and edit bills in the LRS for the Legislative Counsel in the Consumer Protection Board. I completed the training for the LRS on May 20, 2009.


 

1999-2008 Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Department, Attorney

Admissions Office - Confidential Secretary to the Principal Attorney Daniel C. Brennan - Coordinated with the Committee on Character and Fitness each month to assign interviews for new candidates for admission. Facilitated continuous monthly attorney admissions to the bar, including annual large volumes of admissions in January and June for new attorneys that passed the corresponding bar exam. Coordinated hearings on applications that required further review by the Committee on Character and Fitness. Prepared all final dispositions for such hearings.

 

Responded to inquires from pending domestic and international applicants. Established organization systems for the Third Department that included the monthly tracking and recording of the number of attorneys admitted in the Department, and another system tracking the number of attorneys admitted in the Department according to their primary residence, which included all 50 States and foreign countries. Prepared Orders and monthly Certificates of Good Standing for such month’s new admissions. Also responded and prepared daily requests for Certificates of Good Standing. Provided back-up administrative support services for office as needed, which included Dictaphone transcription for the Clerk of the Motion Department.


 

Retired on April 29, 2008 from the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division after 37 years of employment with the State of New York.

 

1980-1999 Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Department, Law Research Department – Appellate Law Stenographer - Responsible for assisting in the preparation of law research assistant reports and making such reports available for the Court.


 

1977-1980 Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Department, Clerk’s Office

Legal Typist - Responsible for office correspondence, filings and unemployment insurance appeals.


 

1971 – 1977 Albany County Supreme Court - Trial Term Clerk - Responsible for calendar call, calling roll of jurors, assigning cases to court clerks and was assigned to assist the Presiding Judge, which rotated monthly.
